Schedule of Events

It is traditional for the couple to be called up to the Torah (be honored) during morning services on the Shabbat preceding the wedding. We are particularly excited to celebrate this moment at IKAR because we met at IKAR during Shabbat morning services. Services start at 9:30AM and the Torah service (during we will be honored) will begin around 10/10:15AM. For those that are not familiar with Jewish services, it is completely acceptable to arrive at any time during the service (many people start trickling in around 10) and to get up, walk around, hang out outside, get a cup of (complimentary) coffee, etc. as you please. Plan to arrive by 10 if you want to be there for the honor. After services everyone is invited to stay for the community lunch and there will likely be a few reserved tables for our guests.

A few things to note:

* There will be security throughout the building and you will need to go through a security check including having your bag checked and walking through a metal detector to enter the building.

* Microphones and hand drums will be used throughout the service.

This is the first event on our wedding day. A tisch is a gathering with music, singing, speeches, and refreshments, which is often part of a Jewish celebration for Shabbat and holidays. A tisch is also a customary part of a Jewish wedding where people gather together before the chuppah ceremony for a pre-game of sorts. While traditionally the gatherings before the chuppah ceremony are separate as the couple has not seen each other yet, we are excited to share this moment together and with all of you. We invite you to share a story or memory about one of us or both of us at this time.  The tisch also serves as a "buffer" time before the ceremony, as guests may arrive any time between the start of the tisch (3PM) and the start of the ceremony (4:30PM).

This is the THE EVENT that we have all been waiting for, the main part of the ceremony. This is the part where we will walk down the aisle, share our vows, and become legally married. There will be lots of ritual pieces during this ceremony that will be explained.

...and now we party. We will kick off the reception with simcha dancing, schtick and Israeli dancing (think Jewish summer camp or Hebrew school chug). If none of these words sound familiar to you - that's ok! Just imagine lots of dancing and laughter. After our marathon of dancing we will have dinner, games, and activities. We invite you to relax and enjoy the evening. Dinner will be served sometime between 6PM and 6:30PM so please plan accordingly to take care of your body.
